Individual experiences
Patient Experiences
Experiences shared with us by patients and families, paraphrased and anonymised. Every person’s condition and response to physiotherapy is different.
PATIENT EXPERIENCE
Back pain & mobility
After being referred by my doctor, I came to Physio-Care with upper and lower back pain. I was also finding it difficult to walk and even to turn in bed.
After four physiotherapy sessions, my pain has reduced significantly. I can now walk more easily and turn in bed with much more comfort.
I now hope to progress to a fitness training programme as part of my goals.

PATIENT EXPERIENCE
Lower back pain
I came to Physio-Care with lower back pain that was spreading into my right leg. I was having difficulty walking, squatting and even standing up from a squatting position.
After assessing me, the physiotherapist found that I had a condition called piriformis syndrome.
After three physiotherapy sessions, my pain is much less. I am now able to squat and to get up from squatting to standing.
I hope that completing my physiotherapy sessions will ease my pain further.

CAREGIVER EXPERIENCE
A child's walking difficulty
Our 2-year-old son had been having difficulty walking, and his grandmother brought him to Physio-Care.
The physiotherapist’s assessment showed that he had a right flat foot and developmental delay.
The physiotherapist gave him exercises to strengthen his leg and support the development of his foot, as well as insoles to help with proper foot positioning and the development of the arch of his right foot.
As his father, I am sincerely satisfied that the cause of my son’s difficulty has been identified and is being managed.

CAREGIVER EXPERIENCE
Stroke rehabilitation support
When my husband had a stroke, I didn’t know how to help him. Following his hospital treatment, we were advised to do physiotherapy exercises with him, but we could not find a physiotherapist straight away, so we were only massaging him with warm water.
When a physiotherapist from Physio-Care Rehabilitation Center visited us, we learnt how to exercise his joints and how to position him properly.
The physiotherapist encouraged us to turn him regularly, every two hours. Since we started doing this, we have seen a wound on his buttocks dry up and heal.
We hope he will get stronger and recover without any joint deformities, now that we have been taught the right exercises and positioning techniques.

PATIENT EXPERIENCE
Total right hip replacement
Following a Total Right Hip Replacement surgery, Enrique ( Not real names) was referred to the Physio-Care Rehabilitation Center, Matugga in May 2025 to complete his rehabilitation, 1 month after surgery.
Enrique had a painful right thigh, and required the support of two elbow crutches for walking. He was also worried about whether he would eventually gain his walking independence, and return to work since his job requires regular walking in the community.
Following a comprehensive Physiotherapy assessment, Enrique was provided with a detailed, structured rehabilitation plan that would be implemented over a period of 4 months.
Having understood that his rehabilitation required patience, consistency and hard work, he accepted the plan and his Physiotherapy sessions commenced immediately.
He would attend Physiotherapy twice every week and gradually he started to experience significant physical improvements in his condition; reduced pain, improved ability to transfer from one place to another and better mobility with his crutches.
By early September 2025, he was able to move with only one crutch and no pain at all. He started independent ambulation training without crutches in the third week of September 2025 and was demonstrating minimal gait deviations that required further training to improve his walking posture.
Enrique has recently expressed excitement and satisfaction with his rehabilitation journey, when he got in touch with our Physiotherapist as he said " I am recovering well Musawo, I am now able to walk comfortably for 3 miles".
The story of Enrique is an inspiration to our team. We are glad to help people recovering from fractures and other potentially disabling conditions regain their maximum potential, and return to their jobs.
