Stroke

Rehabilitation after a stroke often focuses on movement, balance and everyday independence.

A stroke happens when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted. Depending on the area affected, it can change movement, sensation, balance, speech and other functions. The effects differ widely from person to person.

When to seek urgent care: Sudden face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech, confusion or severe headache may be signs of a stroke. This is a medical emergency, so seek emergency care immediately.
